A thick layer of smoke has worsened visibility in Kathmandu and other cities in Nepal, and forest fires are raging in 54 districts of the country.
According to the Office of Meteorological Forecasting (MFD), 54 areas are virtually engulfed in wildfires, leading to a drop in the High Air Quality Index (AQI).
According to the MFD, Chitwan, Parsa, Bara and Makwanpur were severely affected. In Kathmandu, the air remained hazardous with a Pm 2.5 of 303.89 mg / m3.
Flights were canceled in some cases because the international airport in Kathmandu was forced to close for about 4 hours due to reduced visibility.
