Intense hail destroyed hundreds of homes in Nagaland, India

Torrential rains, accompanied by strong winds and large hail with a diameter of up to 5 cm, hit several villages in the Kiphir region of Nagaland, northeastern India, damaging or destroying more than 500 houses.

Among the affected villages were Salomi, Wongti, New Wongti, Penkim and other areas of Pungro.

According to the government of Nagaland, more than 500 houses were destroyed or damaged, including 273 houses were destroyed in Salomi, 42 houses at the KSAC headquarters in Khons and 66 houses in Moya.

According to an assessment by the administration of the Pungro unit, 60 houses were destroyed in Penkim, 35 in the town of Pungro, 15 in the village of Pungro, 12 in the new Wongti and 9 in the village of Kuro. No casualties reported.

Officials and government officials visited the affected areas and provided emergency assistance, as well as materials to assist residents in the repair of their homes.
