Ants remember up to 14 different odors

Scientists from the University of Arizona (USA) reported on the results of a study of the ability of desert ants to memorize smells and locate food stocks by smell. We are talking about desert ants Cataglyphis.

Experts have reliably established that desert ants use the sense of smell to search for food and use the sense of smell to find a way to return to the anthill with the food they bring, which they bring to their habitat to replenish their stocks.

Scientists have found that ants remember the location of food by smell from the first time, and information is stored until the end of life. In addition, they are able to remember at least 14 smells associated with the location of food.
