At the moment of maximum approach with our planet, the distance between it and the asteroid will be 830,000 kilometers, in fact this is 2.16 lunar distances.
2016 HP6 was discovered on April 29, 2016 with the help of digital sky survey Catalina Sky Survey (CSS). The CSS project was created to detect asteroids and comets, as well as to search for other near-Earth objects.
Observations of the above-mentioned asteroid show that its diameter can be in the range from 16 to 49 meters. Its absolute stellar magnitude is 25.4 meters. It bends around the Sun approximately every two years at a distance of 1.59AU.
After the asteroid passes the Earth, in a few hours it will fly past the Moon at a distance of 1.13 million kilometers.
