Jupiter attracts meteorites that threaten the Earth

It is likely that the Chelyabinsk meteorite fell to Earth precisely because of the influence of the Fifth Planet. Such conclusions were made by scientists from Spain, France and Australia.
It used to be that meteorites fall on Jupiter rarely. But according to a recent article published in Astronomy & Astrophysics, celestial bodies ranging in size from 5 to 20 meters collide with the gas giant much more often. Joint observations of Spanish, French and Australian scientists have shown that asteroids of this size fall to the surface of Jupiter from 10 to 65 times a year.
This pattern carries a serious danger to the Earth. After all, some objects change their orbit due to the influence of Jupiter, but do not fall on it, but continue to move to other planets. It is possible that the legendary Chelyabinsk meteorite fell to Earth just because of this. Moreover, Jupiter changes the orbits of larger celestial objects. For example, comets Hale-Bopp: after the flight near Jupiter in 1997, its period of circulation was reduced almost twice – from 4200 to 2533 years
