A stunning solar halo was observed over Sweden

In the sky above the Swedish city of Malmberge, located about 100 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle, observed an amazing and rare atmospheric phenomenon – the solar halo.
Local resident Marit Aasvang Olsson was lucky to capture a stunning spectacle on the camera of her phone.

The halo arises around the disk of the Sun at a time when small crystals of ice in the Earth’s atmosphere refracts sunlight. The halo is usually associated with the presence of cirrus clouds at an altitude of 5-10 km in the upper layers of the troposphere, or with ice fog. The radiance of the ring around the sun can be of different colors – from white to the color of the rainbow.
