According to a new report from WIRED magazine, millions of Americans have had their digital and communication privacy utterly compromised by the wireless carrier.

The breach of privacy has occurred through an obscure program known as Data Analytical Services (DAS), previously, the protocol was known as ‘Hemisphere.’

This program has reportedly analyzed trillions of phone records from unsuspecting Americans. Just The News explained:

What’s worse is that the program hands over sensitive personal details, including addresses, locations, and dates, of pretty much anyone in the network to law enforcement agencies.

Sources also claim that the White House has handed over millions of dollars to ensure the program continues to run.

Scores of Americans came out to sound the alarm on this latest incident of state surveillance:

WIRED broke the story and stated:

AT&T spokesperson Kim Hart Jonson declined WIRED’s request to comment on the DAS program, saying only that the company is required by law to comply with a lawful subpoena.

There is no law requiring AT&T to store decades’ worth of Americans’ call records for law enforcement purposes.

Documents reviewed by WIRED show that AT&T officials have attended law enforcement conferences in Texas as recently as 2018 to train police officials on how best to utilize AT&T’s voluntary, albeit revenue-generating, assistance.
