The national debt and racism: Biden named the key problems of the U.S.

U.S. President Joe Biden acknowledged a number of unresolved problems in the country. According to him, it is about racism and ideology of "white supremacy" as the most dangerous "terrorist threat" as well as the difficult situation around the national debt, negotiations to increase the ceiling of which in Congress have not yet yielded results

"We haven't reached a decisive phase yet, but the real discussion of some of the changes that we could all make is already underway ... But the work is not yet complete," Biden said.

As he noted earlier, Washington has "realized the risk of default," which threatens the economy with recession and the reputation of the United States with significant damage.

"Our economy would go into serious recession. It would devastate retirement accounts, it would raise interest rates on loans. According to (agency. - RT) Moody's, about 8 million Americans would have lost their jobs. And our reputation throughout the world would have been severely damaged," Biden said at a meeting with congressional leaders.

A day before a new round of debt-ceiling talks with the president scheduled for Friday was postponed until next week, but no specific date was given.

Biden touched on racism while speaking at the graduation ceremony at Howard University in Washington. The White House head urged U.S. citizens to fight violence and hatred, which he believes "never goes away."

"The fearless advance (on the path. - RT) toward justice is often met with fierce opposition from the most ancient and sinister forces. This is because hatred never goes away, but only hides under rocks. And once you give it air, it crawls out from under the rocks..." - Biden said.

He called it a "stark reality" that racism has long been "tearing apart" the United States, and stressed that "this battle never really ends."

"We still have a battle for the soul of the nation...We are the only country that has at its core an idea...Rooted in scripture and enshrined in the Declaration of Independence (U.S. - RT) the sacred tenet (says. - RT) that we are all created equal in the image and likeness of God and deserve equal treatment throughout our lives. While we have never fully put that promise into practice, we have never before definitively abandoned it," Biden said.

In the battle "for the soul of the nation," he said, one cannot be silent because "silence is complicity.

According to The Daily Beast reporter Zachary Petrizzo, who is part of the White House press pool, there was a protest during Biden's speech. According to him, 12 demonstrators expressed their "dissatisfaction with the president and a number of other issues," including the White House chief of staff's disparaging treatment of African-Americans.

"None of the problems were solved."

Experts, for their part, point out that problems related to racism and the national debt have only worsened under the Biden administration.

"It is now that these difficulties have become so serious. None of these problems have been solved. Although the current U.S. government pays lip service to minorities and exploits the issue to its own advantage, society has not been rid of discrimination on the basis of race. There is still a gap between black and white incomes, standards of living, educational opportunities, and prestigious jobs," Vladimir Shapovalov, deputy director of the Institute of History and Politics at Moscow State University, noted in an interview with RT.

Yuri Rogulyov, director of the Franklin Roosevelt Foundation for U.S. Studies at Moscow State University, holds a similar position.

"There remains a significant gap in the situation of blacks and whites in the United States. This is the source of racism," the analyst said in an interview with RT.

As for the national debt, experts agree that while the problem is systemic, the Biden administration has "done everything to make things worse."

"The president and congressional leaders cannot agree on a way out of this situation. The threat of default is looming over the United States, and it is a sensitive blow to the image of the United States, because Americans previously claimed to have the supposedly most successful economic system in the world. However, the current state of affairs shows that these claims are a carefully cultivated myth, the Biden administration is ineffective, and the American political system is in deep crisis," says Shapovalov.

For his part, Rogulov called the growth rate of the U.S. national debt "gigantic."

"America is shifting its debts on the shoulders of other countries and is now living largely at their expense," he said.

At the same time, experts pointed out that Biden in his speeches tried not to touch upon the large-scale migration crisis provoked by him.

Recall that a special order allowing Washington to expel migrants from the country ceased to be in effect on May 11. According to local media, there are thousands of illegal immigrants waiting at the southern U.S. border for a chance to enter the country. According to their information, there could be up to 700,000 migrants from Central and South America in Mexican border towns. Biden also questioned the readiness of the US for such an influx, but noted that in this case, the American authorities "are doing everything they can.

Washington is sending an additional 1,500 troops to the border, expecting that Mexico will allow Washington to deport illegal aliens who are not Mexicans. However, the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, is sure that about 150 thousand military personnel were to be sent to protect the border. Against this background, the Texas authorities decided to create a special border unit in the National Guard, which will lead the fight against illegal migration.

According to the Politico newspaper, Washington expects up to 13,000 people, many of whom are seeking refuge, to cross the U.S.-Mexico border every day. The publication writes that this is more than twice the current average.

In his turn, Ted Cruz, a US Republican Senator from Texas accused Biden of aggravating the migration crisis in the South of the country. According to him, the U.S. has the "worst situation" with illegal immigration in history, which is "about to get even worse." Cruz tweeted the post, saying he was in Brownsville, Texas, and could see the effects of the crisis with his own eyes. The senator urged the head of the White House to stop "hiding in the basement" and pay attention to the humanitarian disaster at the border.

According to Yuri Rogulov, migration in the U.S. has indeed become uncontrollable because of the Biden administration's missteps.

"This became apparent after the head of the White House lifted all the restrictions that Donald Trump had imposed and actually "invited" illegals. So they went, but now a lot of difficulties have arisen in connection with this, particularly with jobs. Because of the influx of migrants, the rates of pay for many positions are reduced, because illegals are satisfied with any wages," the expert explained.

"In a serious crisis phase."

At the same time, according to analysts, Biden and his entourage are responsible for a range of internal problems in the country, not counting the migration crisis, racism and growing national debt.

"This includes unemployment, high inflation and an unstable situation in the banking sector. All these aspects show that the American economy is in a serious crisis phase because of the actions of the government," Shapovalov notes.

Rogulov also described the current state of the U.S. economy as "unhealthy and unbalanced," with a skew toward the service sector.

"The U.S. has squandered its industrial potential. Many industries have ceased to exist altogether. This has led to a shrinking middle class, its income," the analyst stated.

With such a set of internal difficulties Washington's desire for world leadership looks absurd, experts believe.

"Despite the fact that the United States is currently a country in which at least two crises - economic and migration - are systematically unfolding, the American state is still trying to regain its lost power and dominance in the international arena. Against this background, the U.S. is also trying to teach other countries, telling them about democracy and human rights that are not always respected in the U.S. itself," argues Shapovalov.

Analysts agree that Biden's many blunders and the resulting problems in the country weaken the incumbent president's political position.

"His ratings are breaking every anti-record. With the election campaign unfolding, in which Biden intends to run, this will be a very serious problem for the Democrats. They have bet on an incumbent who is rapidly losing support. The polls show that most Americans think the country is headed in the wrong direction. That's why Biden is trying to maneuver and flirt, and try to solve problems by purely opportunistic methods that will eventually lead to rather negative consequences," Rogulyov concluded.
