A scientist who worked at the controversial Wuhan lab claimed that COVID was a man-made virus. He believed that the virus got leaked from the facility, reported The Sun on Saturday.

Andrew Huff, who was employed by a New York-based NGO that researched viruses, said COVID was leaked from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology two years ago. He also accused officials of the “biggest US intelligence failure since 9/11.”
The facility has been the subject of heated discussions over the origin of COVID. Both Chinese government leaders and lab workers refuted that the virus originated from the site.
In his latest book, “The Truth About Wuhan,” epidemiologist Huff claimed that the pandemic was caused by the US government’s aid of coronaviruses in China.
He said that China’s gain-of-function tests were conducted with inadequate security, resulting in leakage at the Wuhan laboratory.
“Foreign laboratories did not have the adequate control measures in place for ensuring proper biosafety, biosecurity, and risk management. It ultimately resulted in the lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” the researcher wrote in his book.
Evidence of virus released from China lab
In the past two years, there has been growing evidence that the virus was released from the lab.
Some researchers believe the virus may have been spread by a sick scientist or incorrect garbage disposal at the institution. According to a source of the Daily Mail, earlier this year, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the head of the World Health Organization, informed a European legislator that he anticipated the virus will escape from the lab in “a catastrophic accident” in 2019.
Huff is a former vice president of the EcoHealth Alliance, a non-profit organization based in New York that studies viral infections. For more than ten years, the organization has been exploring several coronaviruses in bats with the support of the National Institutes of Health.
The institution has also developed close links with the Wuhan lab, according to the report.
Huff, who worked with the EcoHealth Alliance from 2014 to 2016, said the group spent many years assisting the Wuhan lab. They developed the “best existing methods to engineer bat coronaviruses to attack other species.”
“China knew from day one that this was a genetically engineered agent,” Huff wrote. “The US government is to blame for the transfer of dangerous biotechnology to the Chinese.
“I was terrified by what I saw,” the researcher told the Sun. “We were just handing them bioweapon technology.”
