Australia records hottest day in history with temperatures above 50C

The remote coastal town of Onslow in Western Australia recorded a temperature of 50.7C, the hottest temperature on record.

While some parts of the globe are experiencing extremely cold conditions, Australia is registering high temperatures.

Not only in Onslow, but also in other locations in Western Australia, including Roybourne Airport and Mardi, temperatures have reached 50.5C.

Several other cities in the region are also likely to set temperature records for January. At the iron ore export center of Carratha, temperatures reached 48.4C, surpassing the previous high of 48.2C.
