Should you be afraid of the omicron variant? The Resistance Chicks don’t think so – Brighteon.TV

(Planet Today) Michelle and Leah Svensson, known together as the Resistance Chicks, talked about why Americans should not be afraid of the emerging post-vaccine omicron variant of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).

They highlighted several important factors commonly associated with this new and supposedly more frightening post-vaccine variant of the coronavirus during the Nov. 26 episode of their program “Headline News” on Brighteon.TV.

One of the biggest factors is that the omicron variant has 50 different mutations, with 32 of those mutations found in the spike protein alone. This means this variant has more mutations than the delta variant.

But reports said a large number of mutations does not necessarily make the omicron variant worse than the others. “Then again, since it is the job of science to fearmonger so that Pfizer can buy an even bigger yacht, assume it will be very, very horrifying,” Leah said.

Michelle and Leah did not want to make any predictions about how the omicron variant will spread throughout the United States. But they pointed out that when the delta variant was spreading around the world, a spike in South Africa looked extremely similar to what it looked like in Florida.

“Very suspect,” remarked Michelle.

“The timing is insane,” said Leah. She added that South Africa, much like Florida, is not finding a lot of new COVID-19 cases at the moment.

Travel bans against South Africa are “unjustified”

Most health experts in South Africa are united in saying that the world should not be afraid of the omicron variant.

Dr. Angelique Coetzee, chairperson of the South African Medical Association and a consultant for the South African Department of Health, pointed out that the variant is a lot milder than most other COVID-19 cases.

“There are no prominent symptoms,” she said. “Of those infected, some are currently being treated at home.”

This has not stopped many nations around the world from attempting to spur a panic by barring or restricting travel to South Africa. This is no doubt a way to frighten people into getting vaccinated.

But Dr. Anthony Fauci claimed that the U.S. ban on travelers from South Africa was driven “by a desire to better understand omicron.”

“We want to give us some time to really fill in the blanks of what we don’t know right now,” he claimed.

South African Minister of Health Joseph Phaahla said the travel bans imposed on the country are “unjustified.”

He said the world is using South Africa as a scapegoat and called the travel bans imposed on it and other southern African nations “knee-jerk” reactions.

Phaahla emphasized that not even the World Health Organization has recommended enacting travel bans against nations with high numbers of new infections.

“COVID-19 is a global health emergency. We must work together, not punish each other,” said Phaahla. “Witch hunts don’t benefit anyone. South Africa wants to be an honest player in the world, to share health info not just of benefit to South Africans and citizens of the world.”

The U.S. and the United Kingdom have already temporarily suspended flights from South Africa and many of its neighbors in the continent. All 27 member nations of the European Union have also agreed to activate “emergency breaks” by imposing temporary travel restrictions from southern Africa.

Leah and Michelle pointed out that many nations around the world are currently battling their own COVID-19 outbreaks and yet none of these countries with high infection rates have had travel restrictions placed upon them.

“This is not scientific,” said Michelle.

Leah predicted that there may be a seasonal uptick of COVID-19 cases, possibly at least partially caused by the omicron variant, but this will not lead to a surge in deaths. She said she does not believe hospitals will suddenly be filled with more people.

But Michelle warned that this Christmas season might still be filled with fearmongering stories about the spread of the omicron variant to scare people into getting vaccinated or into accepting the return of COVID-19 restrictions.

“They have guaranteed and promised something, and any good business has to fulfill their promises and their guarantees. And they have promised us a cold, dark winter. You will suffer this Christmas, you will hate it, you will be miserable and you will be enraged,” said Michelle.

“They are doing everything in their power, even if they don’t have a new variant or anything that’s more scary or deadly, you’ve got to ramp up the fear.”
