Severe hail and flooding hit Oman

The Oman Meteorology Department issued a weather warning today about ongoing thunderstorms and rainfall in parts of Oman, including the Hajar Mountain region. An earlier warning indicated active formation of rain clouds.

The weather warning also indicated high waves on the Arabian Sea coast, up to 1.5 meters, and worsened horizontal visibility due to fog and precipitation.

This is a time of sporadic rainfall in parts of Oman, including the mountainous regions of Hajar, part of which is the famous Jebel Akhdhar range. Precipitation is also expected in the southern region of Dhofar.

Some areas of the capital have taken on a cloudy appearance since yesterday morning due to heavy cloud cover. Rains and thunderstorms were reported in the interior cities of Shinas, Liwa and Izki.
