Heavy monsoon rains that have hit the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh over the past few days have inundated at least 357 villages in 21 districts, as of August 9, 2021.
Hamirpur and Jalun districts in the Bundelkhand region have been most affected The Yamuna River in the region is above dangerous levels in at least 5 places. In addition, an elementary school in eastern Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district was washed away on August 8 after rising water levels in the Gahara River.
