Wait, what? Supreme Court justices, federal judges hobnob with ChiComs at top Beijing spy college

(Planet Today) Aged members of the old Soviet Union’s ruling class have got to be envious of the way in which China has managed to infiltrate every level of the U.S. government, for Beijing’s efforts have proven so successful even a former KGB agent like Russian President Vladimir Putin has to marvel at it every once in a while.

We already know that China’s infiltration of American corporations, sports leagues, the tech industry and academia is pervasive. There is also plenty of evidence suggesting that Joe Biden and his crack-addict son, Hunter Biden, have extensive financial ties to the ChiComs.

But what about American jurists — our federal judges and members of the U.S. Supreme Court?

Yes, they, too, have ties to China, and in a way that is extremely disturbing.

The National Pulse reports:

Several U.S. federal judges – including Supreme Court Justices – have served as Visiting Professors at the Chinese Communist Party-run Peking University, The National Pulse can reveal. The efforts were funded by Chinese influence groups seeking to coerce “foreign actors to take actions or adopt positions supportive of” the Chinese government’s “preferred policies.”

The Beijing-based university – headed by a former Chinese Communist Party spy agency leader – has seen its American graduates questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over fears of students getting “co-opted by Chinese espionage efforts.”

Some of Peking University’s School of Transnational Law’s (STL) financial backers include the UK-based Thomson Reuters news agency as well as the China-United States Exchange Foundation (CUSEF), “the leading influence group in the Chinese Communist Party’s United Front propaganda outfit,” the news outlet reported.

The U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission says that the United Front works to “neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party” while attempting simultaneously to “influence foreign governments and other actors to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies.”

As for the CUSEF, long-time readers may recall that several major U.S. media outlets and corporations take “private dinners” with the propaganda outfit, as revealed by filings with the Justice Department under the Foreign Agent Registration Act.

“CUSEF is a Chinese Communist Party-funded initiative founded by Tung Chee Hwa. The group also targets American universities with offers to fund policy research, high-level dialogues, and exchange programs,” The National Pulse reported in January.

Tung is vice-chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which has been tagged by the CUSEF as a key element of the ChiCom’s United Front.

The initiative, according to a federal government report, seeks to “to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party.”

“The United Front strategy uses a range of methods to influence overseas Chinese communities, foreign governments, and other actors to take actions or adopt positions supportive of Beijing’s preferred policies,” it continues.

But despite these problematic ties, Supreme Court justices and U.S. Court of Appeals judges have served as faculty members and guest professors at the School of Transnational Law even as they served on the bench. In addition, former judges who once served on the Chinese Communist Party’s Supreme People’s Court are also members of the university’s faculty.

“China uses what it calls ‘United Front’ work to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the policies and authority of its ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP),” says the government report, which was issued by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission.

Justices Samuel Alito, a conservative, and Anthony Kennedy, a liberal, have both spent time at Peking University, The National Pulse reported. Alito spent a “week in residence” there in 2016, while Kennedy “delivered the keynote address for the school’s opening in 2008 alongside Tung Chee-Hwa,” the outlet reported.

And Judge Robert Morin, who was nominated by then-President Barack Obama to become the Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court before retiring from the bench, became a visiting professor at the STL in 2012.

Another DC Circuit associate judge, Gerald Fisher, also served as a visiting distinguished jurist at the Chinese institution in 2012 and 2014.
