Bulgaria: Flash floods in Sliven province after 60 mm of rain in 1 hour

Dozens of houses were damaged after heavy rain in Sliven province, Bulgaria.

According to authorities, 60 mm of rain fell in just one hour in the municipality of Kotel. The ensuing flooding damaged property and vehicles.

Officials reported damage to homes and businesses, and floodwaters were up to 1 meter deep. According to local media reports, more than 200 homes were damaged, 50 of them severely. A museum and an electrical substation were also damaged.

Several people were evacuated from their homes after the flooding in the neighboring village of Ticha.

The government of the Sliven region reported that in some areas of the municipality of Tvardica, the electricity supply was interrupted after the storm.
