A series of two powerful thunderstorms hit Switzerland

A wave of monstrous thunderstorms swept across Switzerland Sunday afternoon, bringing hail, strong winds and torrential rain.

The weather office warned of localized thunderstorms in the cantons of Fribourg and Bern and this time the forecast was correct! People reported golf ball sized hail, heavy rain and wind.

Some sections of the road to Lac Noir in Fribourg were covered with a thick layer of hail.

In Zurich, the main train station was flooded! In Zug and Hallau (Schaffhausen) masses of water were ejected from sewer manholes and flooded the streets.
