Kashmir has received the rarest snowfall for late May

One of the summer resorts in central Kashmir received the rarest May snowfall on Sunday as cold weather settled in the region. The snowfall occurred at the Sonamarg resort in central Kashmir as well as nearby Minimarg.

Snow in Kashmir usually falls between December and February, the main winter months. However, snowfall in the last half of May is a rare occurrence for the region.

This month Kashmir experienced a drop in temperature caused by rains with thunderstorms and hail.
