The eyewitness was a famous cyclist who often travels around the area for training.
The UFO encounter took place on February 28, 2021, after 10 a.m., according to Pascal Mullebrook, a Belgian citizen who has lived in Venezuela for 40 years, 22 of which are in Merida. Locals call it “Belgabayk” because of their nationality and love of cycling.
“I rode my bike about 7 km north of the summit of La Culata, right in front of the sector known as La Cagna, which ends at Alto Viento. I stopped because I felt tired and wanted to take a picture of a group of more than 40 cyclists following me. I continued on my way and did not notice anything unusual, ”he says.
However, while looking at the pictures he had taken with his mobile phone, he noticed something strange in the sky.
“It came as a surprise to me. I have seen very strange things over this mountain before, which defy explanation, but this is the first time when I managed to take something like this in a photo. And it happened quite by accident, ”explained the 59-year-old cyclist.
