A young dead whale washed ashore off the coast of West Cork.
Yesterday afternoon, a humpback whale was washed ashore off Coney Island, west of Roaringwater.
Although humpbacks are rare, their numbers have increased in recent years.

Assateague Island’s National Wildlife Center urged people to stay away from the dead whale, adding that whales can transmit disease to humans and pets.
