Astrophysicists have decided to use the most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) to create a three-dimensional model of the universe. The project was named Deep Density Displacement Model (D3M) and researchers don’t understand how AI could create something similar.
Astrophysicists were amazed not only by the fact that the D3M turned out to be a fantastically detailed and accurate model, but also by the fact that the AI coped with the task in 30 milliseconds!
How did the machine learn to do this? Where does such accurate knowledge of the structure of our Universe come from?
Naturally, the AI received theoretical foundations, 8000 test simulations were carried out, but the machine regularly coped with tasks significantly better than expected. As a result, the AI analyzed the current physical laws, calculated the movement of particles over the entire history of time and gave the result.
“It’s like teaching AI to recognize cats and dogs from pictures, and then learn that the machine can recognize elephants. What happened in creating a simulation of the universe remains a big mystery,” said astrophysicist Shirley Ho, lead author of the study.
AI in 30 milliseconds created the most detailed model of the universe, which was enclosed in a cube with edges 600 million light years apart.
None of the authors of the study can explain what they saw and, in fact, they do not even have assumptions. Has the day come when artificial intelligence has surpassed the human mind billions of times?
