Lightning strikes kill 9 people and 47 sheep in Karnataka, India

Nine people, including four women, were killed in lightning strikes in northern Karnataka.

Two women died as a result of a lightning strike in the village of Bhairapur in Siruguppa Taluk, Ballari district, as they removed weeds on a pepper farm.

Likewise, two shepherds were killed by lightning in Chikkaulligeri in Saundatti taluk, Belagavsky district. The deceased were identified as Ellavva Inchal (30 years old) and Bhagavwa Kadakol (50 years old). Revanna Malaga suffered severe burns during the incident.

47 sheep belonging to Shrikant Dalawai of Hukkeri were killed by a lightning strike near Navilutirthi.

A lightning strike claimed the lives of two farmers on the Devaragudda road in Ranebennur, Haveri district. The victims were identified as Dayananda Pati. 1 (50) and Parameswarappa Kalammanavar (49).

In another lightning incident reported from Hathalli in Chadchan taluk, Vijayapura district, Dhareppa Biradar (45) was killed on his way home in his ox cart. Interestingly, the oxen were not harmed during the incident.

Rupa Chouhan (14 years old), a 6th grade student from Gedageri tanda in Elburgskiy taluk, Koppal district, and Bhagvantaraya Keramagi, 26, from Astaga village in Kalaburagi taluk, also died from lightning strikes.
