In the capital of Togo, a ten-meter whale washed ashore

The carcass of a 10-meter whale was found on a beach in the Togolese capital, Lome, on Wednesday 7 October. Air Force Africa reported.

The exact cause of the whale’s death remains unknown, reporters note. This was the second time the whale washed ashore at Lome in a week.

Many residents of the city have come to the beach to see the whale, despite the ban on public gatherings introduced as part of the measures to combat the coronavirus.

Togo security forces were deployed to prevent looting at the site of the animal’s death, as many residents of the city, according to reporters, came to the beach to cut off whale meat.
