Mississippi tornado is already the fourth highest category in 2020

The National Meteorological Service (NWS) rated the tornado that hit the Mississippi over the weekend as EF-4. This is the third strongest tornado in the area in just one week, and the fourth EF-4 tornado in 2020, making this year one of the most tornadoes of EF-4 since 2014.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) published its initial storm reports, confirming one death and more than 80 properties that were partially or completely damaged. So far this year, 67 deaths have been caused by tornadoes in the United States, making it the deadliest single tornado since 2012.

On Sunday, April 19, 2020, an outbreak of severe weather generated tornadoes and strong winds over wide strips of the deep South. A 70-year-old man died in Marion County, Mississippi, and another was injured.
