95% of coronavirus deaths in Europe – people over 60

Over 95 percent of those killed by the COVID-19 coronavirus are people over the age of 60. Over 50 percent of these deaths occurred in people over the age of 80. Such data are provided by WHO.

According to Hans Kluge, director of the European division of the World Health Organization, in 8 out of 10 cases, died patients had one or two chronic diseases. In a special risk zone are patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension and diabetes, reports TASS. All adults are at risk of serious illness. In ten percent of cases, patients require intensive care.

Previously, WHO recognized the situation with the coronavirus pandemic. The number of infected around the world is approaching a million. In Europe, more than 30 thousand people died from COVID-19. Most deaths – 90 percent – occur in Italy, Spain and France.
