In the Polish Tatras, three people suffered from a lightning strike

Three people suffered from a lightning strike in the Polish Tatras, a representative of the Tatra National Park told RIA Novosti.

“A woman, a man and a seven-year-old child suffered from a lightning strike,” the agency’s source said.

According to him, a woman lost consciousness for a while, and a man and a child received not life-threatening injuries. All three were lowered from the mountain and sent to the hospital.

This is not the first incident with tourists during a thunderstorm in the Tatra Mountains – on August 22, four people died, including two children, as a result of lightning strikes in the Polish mountains. More than 100 people were injured, some of them are in serious condition.

One of the places where the tragedy happened was Mount Giewont, where lightning struck a group of tourists. Rescuers noted that on the top of the mountain there is a metal cross in which lightning can strike. Also dangerous are the metal chains that enclose hiking trails in the mountain area.
