Raikoke Volcano Eruption: Before and After

The volcano Raikoke inactive for almost a century. Then, at 4 am on June 22, 2019, he woke up and as a result of a long and powerful volcanic eruption, all life around was destroyed.

The eruption consisted of at least nine explosions and lasted until the evening. Plumes of ash, containing a large amount of sulfur dioxide, rose to 13 km.

The video shows how an amazing place, full of endemic flora and fauna, was turned into a lifeless desert for several hours.
Raikkok was a tiny inhabited island of no more than 2 square miles in the Sea of Okhotsk. Now it has turned into a post-apocalyptic island of ghosts.
