In Nizhny Novgorod, they found a burial which is 3500 years old

For Nizhny Novgorod, archaeological excavations are not uncommon. Our city is ancient, so a lot has already been done. But the burial found in the village of Kuznechykha is truly unusual. He is about 3,500 years old.

Excavations near the village of Kuznechykha have been going on for about 2 months. Their area is 2.5 thousand square meters. Archaeological investigations at this site began in connection with the planned construction of an administrative building.

The main part of the excavation dates back to the 14th century: at this time there was a medieval settlement on the site of today’s village. In the settlement, which has the name Kuznechykha-3, people lived in the 14–15th centuries, then the settlement was abandoned. Again, people settled here in the 18-19 centuries. This is how the village of Kuznechykha appeared:

– In fact, now we can go through this medieval village, reconstruct the location of courtyards and buildings. We found findings that comprehensively characterize the spiritual life of the inhabitants of the village, their preferences in everyday life and in clothes, ”said Sergei Milovanov, the head of the works, an employee of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

But the most interesting thing is that during these excavations a burial site, which is about 3,500 years old, was discovered. It belongs to the Bronze Age. Such finds are extremely rare now: most of these graves were investigated about 40 years ago.

All finds will be recorded, and after study and restoration transferred to the museum.
