The Maureen Whelan family lives in a house on the shores of Lake Ontario. Maureen’s ancestors owned property for 85 years, but for the first time the family encountered an unusual weather phenomenon. This tells the Air Force.
In the area of Ramona Beach, where the house stands, quite cold and windy weather has set in. Because of the strong wind, which reached 112 km per hour, huge waves splashed out of the lake. The water instantly froze – as a result, the house was almost completely covered with ice.
The family tries to remove ice buildup in many ways to prevent further flooding of the house. They hope that they can cut the ice with a chainsaw, and pump the water that has accumulated in the basement.
