The 3D printing market is located at the very beginning of the rise, printing experiments in various industries, various product ranges, product redesign; Software, materials, equipment, and processes are being intensively improved, according to J’son & Partners Consulting.

The use of additive technologies in production, marketing, design, visualization for customers and company management is expanding every year.

According to a survey of 1 thousand global industrial companies conducted by Sculpteo, more than 40% of companies already use 3D printing for the manufacture of products in 2018 (compared with 22% in 2017), while in the aerospace sector, the greatest use (more 60% of companies use AP (additive production (AP) in production).

Estimated volume of the global market for Wohlers, the production of functional parts is already the largest share of use in companies (33%) compared to other applications.

The pioneers of the market were the USA, Japan, the countries of Western Europe, including Germany, Great Britain, France and a number of other countries. Each of them has its own established leading manufacturers of 3D printers. South Korea, Israel, and China, which by their speed of mastering new technologies cause concern to the traditional leader of high technology trends in the world — the United States — are showing significant activity.

The level of 3D printing penetration varies from industry to industry and depends on the advantages that additive technologies of a particular industry have as well as on barriers to their use. Leaders and occupy more than 50% of the market sector: industry, aerospace, automotive, medicine and dentistry, consumer sector.

Over time, the share of 3D printing in the finished product will increase, experts predict. As 3D printing arrives in new industries, the number of manufactured products in other industries will grow rapidly. However, the transition to a higher level of maturity is determined by the technological readiness of the company, industry, country.

With all the advantages, 3D printing has not yet reached such a level of maturity as to print parts of any shape and complexity in unlimited quantities at a competitive price.

Manufacturers are still conducting ongoing research and development, work on the improvement of equipment, technological processes, the expansion of the line and the invention of new materials, adapted to the AP.

Evaluation of the 3D printing market is:

– more than $ 7 billion in 2017 [2], including services accounted for more than 60% of the market;

– $ 350 billion – forecast by 2035 (BCG estimate) if additive technologies occupy 1.5% of the global manufacturing market (or about 50% of the target market);

– $ 640 billion – by the years 2050-2065. (consensus analysis by international experts), based on 5% of the total manufacturing market (or 100% of the target market). Experts tend to exceed this indicator due to the potential benefits of AP.
