Sky 5 was just one of the dozens of news channels covering the progress of the blazes.
But one particular clip has gone viral – after it appeared to show a mysterious object in the skies.
However, as the camera zooms in further a long, black object appears to be hovering in the background.
The object moves away slowly from the devastation of the fire as the news anchor discusses the condition of the forest.
In the description of the YouTube clip on conspiracy site Disclose.TV, the user wrote: "In the clip we can see what looks like a 'Cigar shape craft' using the smoke as cover."
The video has already received just under 30,000 views in the past five days.
Some claimed the object may have been a blimp as they are often seen in the sky around the Westlake Village area.
But this theory was quickly quashed by a local, who said they had “never seen [a blimp] moving that fast”.
Another suggested it was, in fact, a vessel passing on a lake behind the fire.
More than 1,000 people have been reported missing since the fires started on November 8.
Meghan Markle’s childhood home has also been destroyed in the blaze, and stars such as Simon Cowell, Jennifer Lawrence and Harrison Ford have been forced to leave their homes as firefighters attempt to tackle the fire.
The video shows two planes passing the cloud of smoke above Westlake Village – just a few miles away from Los Angeles.
