NASA is developing next-generation telescopes that can detect life on exoplanets. The devices of the future will be able to analyze the atmosphere of the planet, comparing it with the earth.

An important factor in the search for extraterrestrial life is the nature of the parent star of the exoplanet under study. The mass, size and age of the body determine the length of the habitable zone – areas where the temperature allows water to maintain a liquid state.

The agency already has information about the huge number of planets within the Milky Way galaxy, which could potentially be suitable for the emergence of life. However, for a more accurate analysis, more knowledge is needed of how the size of the planet relates to its composition.

This task, in particular, is assigned to a new, expanded mission of the Kepler telescope, which received the working name K2. It will stop the “flow of exoplanets” and focus on finding a truly inhabited world, writes The Daily Mail.
