In the Mexican state of Veracruz declared emergency due to flooding

The authorities of the Mexican state of Veracruz declared a state of emergency in 13 municipalities after houses and roads were flooded in the southern part of the state as a result of heavy rains.

In the municipalities of San Andrés and Santiago-Tustla, hundreds of families lost all their property because of floods, owners of restaurants and shops in Catemaco also reported serious losses.

State and local authorities continue to work to eliminate the effects of flooding and to assist affected families.

If the rains continue, a state of emergency can be announced in 5 more municipalities of the state.
