Scientists saw the shape of a bath towel in the clouds of Jupiter

The color image below shows a bright group of the upper clouds of Jupiter. The data, which formed the basis of this mosaic image, were obtained by space Juno (NASA) on July 16, 2018. The clouds are located above the northern hemisphere of the largest gas giant in our Solar System.

The atmosphere of Jupiter often pleases scientists with amazing patterns, shapes and patterns. This time, the cameras of the spacecraft caught something similar to a twisted bath towel.

This whole system of clouds of Jupiter is about 3000 kilometers – and this is almost the length of the entire American east coast from Maine to Florida. However, considering that Jupiter is more than 11 times larger than the Earth, 3000 km seem to us not so big.
