Robots-cockroaches will help to survey engines

Rolls-Royce develops tiny robots to inspect hard-to-reach parts of aircraft engines. Devices will be delivered to the interior of the engine through a robot probe. The robot will be equipped with a camera that will allow real-time transmission of information to the operator.

SWARM robots will have a diameter of about 10 mm. They will allow to survey the engine directly on the spot. The development of the device is conducted jointly with specialists from Nottingham and Harvard universities.

In addition to robotic cockroaches, Rolls-Royce also develops reminiscent robotic endoscopes that will also be used to inspect engines.
