In Swedish shrimp found traces of chemical warfare agents

Swedish experts found traces of combat chemicals in shrimp caught from the western coast of the country, the Swedish National Agency for Water Resources reported.

The agency’s research says that the shrimp were mined in an area where during the Second World War, the Swedish allies at a depth of 200 meters flooded 28 vessels carrying chemical weapons on board.
According to available information, the analyzes showed a low content of diphenyl chloroarsine poison in the caught shrimp.

In this concentration, it does not pose a threat to humans, but the researchers noted that “such substances should not be in the marine environment.”

It is emphasized that industrial fishing is actively conducted in this region.
