In honor of the Day of the Asteroid, the European Space Agency (ESA) published a photograph of the crater in northern Australia. It was formed about 140 million years ago from the fall to Earth of a large asteroid or comet. The crater is located in the left part of the picture in the center.
The photo was made in strange colors, because this is a special photo, which shows the mineral composition of the soil. Thus, the Earth sees the cameras of the Copernicus Sentinel-2A satellite. This device monitors the process of changing the Earth’s surface and helps in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters.
