The Indonesian volcano Merapi threw a column of ash at a height of 12 kilometers

The Indonesian volcano Merapi threw out a powerful pillar of ash, covering the city with a thick layer of ash. Aviation flights were canceled, evacuation of the population from dangerous areas was carried out.
Local residents are prohibited from approaching the volcano, a forbidden zone with a diameter of 3 kilometers from the volcano is established.

It should be noted that thousands of people lived on the slopes of the Merapi volcano. The volcano is located 28 km north of the city of Yogyakarta (population 2.4 million people). In November 1994, a large explosion on the volcano caused pyroclastic flows, which killed 27 people. A few years earlier, in 2010, as a result of a series of eruptions, 353 people were killed and more than 350,000 people were evacuated.
