Scientists do not know the consequences of the spread of sex with robots

One Mask knows what awaits us in the future. Flying cars or underground (above-ground) tunnels? Life on Mars? On the moon? Many people are working to make this a reality. But there are more mundane, physical things that are not alien to us. Everyone knows that robots will become sex toys (and maybe even partners) for people. But no one knows how this will change people. To understand what consequences on the psyche can have sex with robots and its ubiquitous distribution, several British researchers decided to review all the data on this issue. Their findings were published in a week in the journal BMJ Sexual & Reproductive Health.
A little depth of the question: at least four companies in the sex industry ($ 30 billion) are already selling sex robots, which scientists define as “realistic mannequins with variable age, appearance and texture and adjustable oral, vaginal and anal openings” . Of course, this is far from robots from brothels of the “World of the Wild West”, but modern models already cost $ 17,000 for the most realistic ones.
Some companies are already developing more advanced bots that, in addition to sexual services, will be able to maintain conversations. Studies show that 40% of men are ready to buy themselves a sex boat in the next five years. And 49% of men are ready to enter into relations with the “super-realistic” doll.
What is this all about? Scientists do not know. Their search has raised exactly zero scientifically sound research on this topic. But this does not prevent sex advocates from doing “optimistic” predictions about the health benefits that these devices can bring. Among them: robots can provide safe sex, help with sexual dysfunction, alleviate the feeling of loneliness and meet the needs of people for intimacy. Only now, no studies have been conducted to support these ideas.
But what if these statements prove unsafe for us? Some fear that sexual robots will lead to increased violence against women, reduce the value of seeking human intimacy or negatively affect “real” romantic relationships. And again, there are no studies that could confirm or disprove this.
And the lack of research is easy to explain: a long time such robots could not be bought. Now that they are on sale, scientists can do a thorough research of sexual relations with robots and protect us from undesirable consequences in the future. It remains to find volunteers for research.
