Floods and landslides in Vietnam

Floods and landslides caused by torrential rains have killed at least seven people in northern Vietnam. Another five people were injured, 12 are missing.

According to the Office for Disaster Management of Vietnam, all deaths occurred in the mountain provinces of Laitiau and Hazyang. Rains in these regions have already subsided, but the authorities fear that the number of victims will grow, since the likelihood that they will be able to find the missing alive is very small.

According to local authorities, floods and landslides also caused damage to roads, houses and crops to the tune of 76 billion VND ($ 3.32 million).
Vietnam is prone to natural disasters, hundreds of people are killed each year by floods and typhoons. According to the government, last year, as a result of natural disasters, 389 people died in the country.
