On thunderstorms, torrents and hail

A strong wave of bad weather at night (on April 30) was played out in the west of Germany, causing floods and closures of roads and tunnels.
Particularly badly affected by the rain, hail and wind gusts residents of the Aachen district. The police received 320 calls for damages within an hour.
Weather perturbations had “characteristics identical to the characteristics of summer storms,” explained the meteorologist of the German National Weather Service (DWD).
