Flood in Afghanistan

As a result of sudden floods in Afghanistan over the past seven days, at least 34 people were killed and 4 others were injured.
The Office for Disaster Management of Afghanistan (ANDA) reported that the floods affected 11 provinces of the country. About 600 animals were killed, 240 houses were destroyed, 624 houses were damaged. About 80 hectares of agricultural land was also seriously damaged.
The affected provinces include Samangan, Takhar, Kapisa, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Badgis, Ghor, Panjshir, Sari-Pul, Ghazni and Parvan. The authorities sent humanitarian aid to a number of districts. The damage is assessed.
Meanwhile, many parts of the country are still struggling with the drought after the unusually meager winter precipitation. About 20 thousand people were forced to migrate from arid areas in search of a better life.
