Scientists decided to dig in the Martian clay

A new model of the Martian climate has been created, where clay plays a significant role.
Last year, as part of a new study, led by a scientist from the SETI Institute and NASA’s Astrobiology Institute, Janice Bishop, a new Mars climate model was demonstrated.
The developed model of the Martian climate better explains how the clay rocks formed on the surface of the Red Planet. According to scientists, the alternation of short-term warm and moist environment on early cold Mars could explain the formation of surface clays.
Clay is the richest hydrated mineral on Mars. And this means that determining the conditions for the formation of this substance will be a great step towards determining the geochemical environment of the whole of Mars for many centuries.
