Russia plans to launch the lunar mission for 2019
The launch of the first Russian lunar mission after the 40-year break is scheduled for 2019. This was reported in the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
“The launch of the Luna-25 is scheduled for 2019. The development of the apparatus is carried out within the frames of the RTC “Luna-25”, – RIA Novosti reports.
The purpose of the mission will be to study the chemical composition of the regolith of the polar regions of the Moon. Also, instruments on board the apparatus will investigate processes in the plasma dusty polar exosphere of the Moon.
Earlier, RSC Energia was told about the timing of the launch of a Russian superheavy missile to the Moon.
