Flood in Malaysia

The north-eastern monsoon rained for the last two days even more rains on flood-hit Malaysian states Pahang, Johor and Terengganu since the beginning of the year. At least two people were killed, more than 12 thousand people were forced to leave their homes.

Strong rainfall also affected part of the state of Penang. The water level in the Jundzhung River in the South Seberang area of ​​Perai on January 5 reached a height of 3.66, exceeding the dangerous mark by 56 cm.
In the state of Pahang, the number of evacuees increased to 10 thousand people. The most affected areas were the Kuantan, Rompin, Pekan, Gerantut, Lipis and Bera regions. Water levels in several rivers also exceed dangerous marks, including the Pahang River in the Pekang District and the Pahang-di-Lubuk Paku River in the Maran area.
In the state of Terengganu, the number of evacuees almost doubled and is about 2.5 thousand people. Kemaman and Dungun districts suffered the greatest blow.
