Consequences of the tropical cyclone “Ava” in Madagascar

The death toll from the tropical cyclone “Ava” in Madagascar increased to 51, another 22 people are reported missing.
Earlier, 29 dead were reported.
The tropical cyclone “Ava” passed through Madagascar on January 5-6. The eastern part of the island suffered most severely from the disaster. The wind speed reached 140-190 km / h.
As reported by the National Directorate for Risk Management and Natural Disasters, more than 54 thousand people were forced to leave their homes.
In March 2017, the Enawo cyclone killed at least 78 people on the north-eastern coast of Madagascar.
