24 rivers flow into the lake, in particular, Ilisty, Melgunovka, Komissarovka; follows the river Sungacha, the inflow of Ussuri (the Amur basin). On the lake there are the villages of Turiy Rig, Platonovo-Aleksandrovskoye, Novokachalinsk and Kamen-Rybolov. The international Russian-Chinese Khankai Reserve is organized on the lake.
